Wishlist Centre

MODE worked with Wishlist and Hutchinson Builders to deliver Stage 1 of the Wishlist Centre at Birtinya, an important health infrastructure project for the Sunshine Coast community.

Located within the Oceanside Health Hub and opposite Sunshine Coast University Hospital, the brand new $14 million Wishlist Centre project is an innovative facility providing transitionary accommodation and supportive health and well-being services for patients, their families, and the community.

Wishlist’s vision was to provide patients and their loved ones with a ‘Home Away From Home’, whilst receiving ongoing treatment or transitioning to and from hospital. Located a short distance from the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, the challenge was to create an environment where, despite close proximity to the hospital, occupants feel at home.

Design strategies maximise positive environmental impacts on site and within the building to maximise a healing environment. Creation of spaces for health education, research, local health providers, community programs and events support an economically sustainability system that focuses on holistic patient recovery.
