Albany Creek SHS

This project consisted of the development of a Performing Arts and Music Centre to cater for the demands of both Albany Creek State High School and the local community.

The building was positioned to minimise disturbance to the existing vegetation and koala habitat and was planned to allow for ease of student and staff access, movement and circulation. The façades of the two buildings are woven with a musical cascade of multi-coloured, translucent sun-shading fins that reflect, refract and filter the light into the outdoor gathering spaces. Due to the nature of the building, acoustic control was paramount within the designs and the noisy main road frontage was addressed by facing the building internally with the storage rooms facing the road to act as a noise buffer to the internal spaces.
