MODE was engaged by Philips Healthcare to coordinate renovations and the instalment of new hybrid operating theatre equipment into an existing theatre at the Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH).

The design and construction processes focused on maintaining functions in and around the affected areas, with special emphasis on infection control measures to ensure adjoining areas are able to safely and clinically function throughout this challenging process. This includes careful consideration of services isolation and shut-downs, installation of dust-free barriers and delivery schedules of materials and equipment. Close consultation between the contractors and hospital representatives was a priority throughout the construction process to identify and plan all aspects of the works to ensure safety and infection control standards were maintained while meeting the tight delivery program.
