Caboolture to Wamuran

MODE & Wolter Consulting Group (WCG) collaborated to design and document a new cycle trail from Caboolture to Wamuran for Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC), which when complete will comprise a 10.5km dedicated walking and cycling track situated along a disused rail corridor between Caboolture and Wamuran.

Client: Moreton Bay Regional Council
Location: Caboolture, QLD

The trail head (entrance) is located in Caboolture and will contain a tree lined park with cycling facilities, rest areas, shelters, landscaping and wayfinding signs. The project focuses on the rich history of the area, and the importance the railway has played in forming and influencing the local people and their way of life, from the logging era at the turn of last century to 1964 when the railway was decommissioned. MBRC sees this project as a major generator of cycle tourism for the local area. As well as being a local commuter facility MBRC foresees that this cycle trail will become a national destination for cycle tourism. The team were awarded the contract to design Stage 1 of the project, which is the first 4km section from Beerburrum Rd in Caboolture to Moodlu, and a crossing at County Drive. MODE’s graphic design and wayfinding team developed a series of concepts for the trail head entry statement, with construction of Stage 1 completed in early 2019.
