Dion brings 30 years of experience in designing sports, recreation, and leisure facilities, blending professional expertise with empathy for athletes, administrators, coaches, and venue owners. His ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and teamwork ensures smooth collaboration and the achievement of project goals. He has worked with international organisations like FIH and FIFA, as well as councils, regional sports bodies, and commercial partners across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific. His projects range from high-performance venues to community facilities, balancing functionality, operations, and aspirational design.
A thought leader in sustainable architecture, Dion co-founded Third Place Thinking™, focusing on creating sports facilities that deliver lasting social benefits beyond their physical structure. His designs emphasize sustainability and community engagement, leaving a meaningful legacy.
Dion’s leadership goes beyond design. He has served on the FIH Competitions & Events Committee, the NZOC Athletes Commission, and has contributed to community sports coaching and administration. His commitment to both elite and grassroots sports is evident across all his projects, from large stadia to smaller community hubs.
